We support the use of Traccar’s mobile client app for tracking participants. The app can be installed from the Apple App Store for iPhone or Google Play for Android.
If the event supports GPS tracking of participants, you should have received an SMS or email with your unique tracking code. This code must be entered into the app.
In the email/SMS you receive for the event, you will find the recommended values for the various fields in the app. The two most important fields are:
Device Identifier – This must be filled in with the unique code you received.
Server URL – Enter:
http://track.eqtiming.com
Unless otherwise specified in the message from the organizer, the other fields can be left at their default values.
Note: Remember to turn the app on by clicking the “Service Status” button until it says “Service started”, and allow the app to use GPS/tracking on your device.
Recommended Settings
The fields for Frequency and Distance determine how often the app sends your location. More frequent updates provide a better experience but reduce battery life.
Type | Frequency | Distance | Location Accuracy |
---|---|---|---|
Run < 10 hours | 30 sec | 10 m | High |
Run 10–18 hours | 45 sec | 50 m | High |
Run > 18 hours | 60 sec | 100 m | Medium |
Bike race < 8 hours | 10 sec | 10 m | High |
Bike race 8–12 hours | 20 sec | 25 m | High |
Bike race 12–24 hours | 30 sec | 100 m | Medium |
Bike race > 24 hours | 60 sec | 250 m | Medium |
Rally | 10 sec | 10 m | High |
After the Event
Once the event is over, we recommend that you turn off the “Service Status” and close the Traccar Client app. This stops the app from using your phone's GPS and helps conserve battery life.
Privacy
By agreeing to use the Traccar Client app and allowing it access to your phone’s GPS, the app will send data to our servers at regular intervals. Your unique Device Identifier is only active during the event timeframe, and we will never store data outside of that period.
